February 17, 2021 – Minto Commercial reports three of its Ottawa office towers have received the Building Owners & Managers Association of Canada’s BEST Platinum certification.

“We’re proud to receive a BOMA BEST Platinum rating for our contributions to energy and environmental advancements in commercial real estate,” said George Van Noten, COO, Minto Properties and Minto Apartment REIT. “We are committed to continued progress in energy performance and waste management practices as we build healthy, thriving work and commercial spaces.”

Recognized for energy management are 180 Kent Street, 344 Slater Street (Canada building) and 427 Laurier Avenue (Enterprise building).

According to Minto, these three are among only five commercial real estate office towers in Ottawa to be recognized with BOMA BEST Platinum.

Key features of these towers include:

• Smart water metering system to help identify real-time changes in consumption, allowing leaks and anomalies to be addressed immediately.

• Energy efficiency measures including lighting upgrades, fan and motor retrofits.

• High-efficiency building equipment that is re-commissioned on an ongoing basis.

The company also shares ongoing tenant communication with real-time energy consumption patterns and annual waste audit results to encourage a further reduction in energy and waste consumption.

BOMA BEST is a voluntary environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings.
